Image palette extractor

Estimate prominent colors from locally decoded image pixels.

JavaScript is required to run the interactive tool. Open the tool separately if it does not load in the frame.

How to use it

Choose an image and a maximum of 2 to 16 colors. Read the HEX values and sampled pixel counts; an image with fewer color groups returns fewer entries.

Example

A solid red image yields a red HEX entry.

Frequently asked question

Is this an exact list of every color?

No. Quantization and downsampling make it a compact estimate.

Limits and privacy

Input is limited to 20 MB and 40 million decoded pixels. At most 250,000 pixels are sampled, transparent pixels are omitted and color channels are quantized; this is an estimate.

Tool input is processed in a separate browser environment without advertising or analytics scripts. This page does not upload it to the service.
